# Kitedesk

> Kitedesk is an open-source (AGPL-3.0-only) remote desktop for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android that connects without any server setup — a beta focused on fixing the everyday friction of controlling a PC from your phone.

Kitedesk는 Windows·macOS·Linux·Android용 오픈소스(AGPL-3.0-only) 원격 데스크톱으로, 서버 설정 없이 연결하고 휴대폰으로 PC를 다룰 때의 불편을 하나씩 고쳐 가는 베타입니다.

- Latest version: 1.4.13-2, published 2026-10-10 (KST). Its release page lists the installers with their SHA-256 checksums and the complete corresponding source archive: https://kite.chanpaca.net/releases/1.4.13-2
- No sign-up needed: by default you request a connection with the other device's ID and it connects once someone accepts it on that device; if password access is turned on in that device's settings, a one-time password also works. Current public builds are free to download and use; payments are not open, and paid plan contents, pricing and the official launch date have not been announced.
- A fresh install registers with Kitedesk's default connection server, so there is no server address or key to enter. You can also point Kitedesk at your own compatible hbbs/hbbr server; it takes priority over the defaults, and Kitedesk does not send its service lease to it.
- Platforms: Windows 10/11 x86_64 (MSI installer or portable EXE); macOS universal (Apple silicon and Intel); Linux x86_64 (AppImage, deb, rpm, tar.gz, plus an experimental Flatpak that has not been confirmed to run and is not recommended); Android arm64-v8a and armeabi-v7a APKs installed directly, not distributed through app stores. iOS: in preparation.
- The Linux deb, rpm, AppImage and tar.gz packages need glibc 2.39 or later (for example Ubuntu 24.04+ or Debian 13+) and do not run on Ubuntu 22.04 or Debian 12. The deb and rpm packages enable and start a system service at install time.
- Windows installers are not code-signed, so SmartScreen may warn; the macOS app is ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so the first launch may be blocked. Compare the published SHA-256 before installing.
- Highlights: move the desktop app's remote toolbar to any screen edge, an SSH terminal in the Android app, a file-transfer screen in the Android app that shows progress and can cancel running and queued transfers, and picking one monitor or all monitors of a remote PC from an Android phone.
- Being controlled as an Android device has not been confirmed on 1.4.13-1, so it is not described as a supported feature.
- Korean (Hangul) input is being improved; reports from your OS and input method are welcome.
- Kitedesk is in beta: features and behavior may change without notice, and there may be bugs. The default connection server has no availability, speed or capacity guarantee (no SLA).
- Beta tester program (recruitment in preparation): participation means real use plus a survey or bug report; the reward is one year of Kitedesk Pro after the official launch (counted from the launch date, non-transferable). Posting reviews is not a condition; applicants and participants who post a review or recommendation must disclose this material connection at the start of the post, even before receiving the reward. Default size is 30 testers for 4 weeks (may change); eligibility and data handling are set out in the beta terms. Pro contents, pricing and the launch date are not decided.
- Kitedesk is an independent fork of RustDesk. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the RustDesk project.
- License: GNU AGPL-3.0-only. The complete corresponding source for each release is on its release page; there is no public Git repository.
